Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC)
The goals of the federal Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) is to ensure the fairness and integrity of the tax system by educating low income taxpayers about their rights and responsibilities, by conducting outreach and education to taxpayers who speak English as a second language, and by identifying and advocating for issues that impact low income taxpayers.
LRC’s LITC program provides year round free tax education. Participants learn about their rights and responsibilities as taxpayers. This education is accomplished through –
-
Access to a tax library with materials in Spanish
-
One-on-one consultations
-
Tax outreach at community events
-
Educational tax presentations
LRC has obtained an IRS grant to provide LITC for several years.
